Re: Molex "Y" splitter

When you shear cells, think about load resistors. rEvodreams have load resistors. Others items have or have not, it depend.
When on the same cell one item have no load resistor and the other is a rEvodream, calibration needs the two in function. Or the display could be different during the dive.

Good point- You have to calibrate the Shearwater and the rEvo Dreams with both already turned on or they will not read the right PO2.

This makes me wonder how reliable the reading of one is if the other fails (e.g. a cable break)!!!

That's exactly why I feel a person should have a totally isolated stand alone cell and monitor.

If a cable or circuit did fail on one cell, you would know it and then not rely on what ever is in parallel with that circuit.

On my system, I only have 2 parallel cells which are the 2 cells on my left rEvo Dream sharing 2 of the 3 cells on my Shearwater.

So, I have one unshared cell on my Shearwater and also my 4th standalone cell and monitor.

I think I bought mine online from Maplins. They really are cheap and easy to find since that's what the geeks use to drive fans in their PC. They won't be gold, just steel, but cheap enough that you can swap them at the first sign of corrosion.

I have used mine to connect a shearwater and an Inspo at the same time. However, this was temporary - there is no better solution than completely independent cells, even if you add resistors etc.

The display changes by about 3-5%. It's not good, but it's not particularly serious either.

I wouldn't start a dive with anything not working, but I wouldn't panic if it happened during a dive.

So reads 1.23 instead of 1.3 - that's reassuring (not that I have one), I couldn't see why it would change much.
