![]() | Help! Broken 7 Pin Fisher Connector I've just managed to break a pin off my 7 pin fisher connector for my VR3. I was gently cleaning it (I had some salt water corrosion deposits in it) and the pin got bent and then broke as I tried to straighten it. What I want to know is, does the pin I have broken off do anything. I've seen three wires going into the connector, so obviously 4 pins don't have anything connected to them. The pin I have broken is displayed below with a 'O'. The top 'X' is the pin directly under the red dot on the outer casing. -------red dot ----------X ---------X X ----------X ---------O X ----------X Sorry about the --- its the only way I could stop the column from left justifying itself. I have connected the VR3 up and I did get a reading out of it that matched my displays (I'm using this on a KISS classic). I then disconnected it and reconnected it again and got a reading significantly higher than my handsets. However, this variation in readings was what alerted me to the deposits in the connector in the first place and I know the VR3 needed calibrating anyway. On the face if it the external PO2 measuring still seems to function but if anyone could advise me differently I would be most grateful. I am going for a shallow dive at the weekernd and will see how it performs then but long term the pin needs replacing, which neatly leads on to my second question: Other than returning the cable to Delta P are there any other suppliers of fisher connectors in the UK that would attach a new connector to the cable for me. There's no way my soldering skills are up to tthe job of doing it myself. Thanks. Oh, and anyone wishing to take the p#ss for the string of school boy errors that led to me cleaning subsequently breakinge connector - the floor is yours. Broken 7 Pin Fisher Connector Donīt remember which two pins are used but if you get a reading from the cell you should be in the clear. If you have a normal voltmeter use it to test (in Ohm mode) which of the two pins are connected to the molex on the O2 cell side. JH |

![]() | Re: Help! Broken 7 Pin Fisher Connector Just thought I should feedback on this incase anyone else breaks the pin and trawls the archives for an answer. I've done several dives with the 6 pin connector now and haven't had any problems. I can only concluded that I am a very lucky hamfisted git. |

First, I just learned something from your thread, thank you. Second, I'm almost afraid to ask but I have to, what on earth is a "hamfisted git"?I've done several dives with the 6 pin connector now and haven't had any problems. I can only concluded that I am a very lucky hamfisted git. Tibby
