Hammerhead requires a big hammer

I know that I have seen a post or two about this, but my searches have not turned it up.

This morning on a nice, shallow, simple, dive to "play" with my new drysuit, my electronics failed. The HUD saved my ass on this dive. I was concentrating on the bouyancy issues of the drysuit and not monitoring my PO2 very well . I just flew it manually after that, no big deal

My primary handset did not fire the solenoid and it was showing 1 min of dive time. My quess was that the battery had died and the handset had reset itself when the solenoid tried to fire. I finished the dive with my secondary handset and HUD.

When I got on the boat, I changed the battery. This is where things got screwed up.
Now it shows my:
current depth at 1844ft
selected po2 at 0.7
dive time at 2:50
max depth at 18ft
sensor po2 at 0.63 0.64 & 0.67

Bat is 3.
mix is air 21%

Deco is f**ked:
first stop at 510' for 50 min

Any ideas about this?
I figure that it will have to go back to Kevin for repair?

Drysuit worked great though can you say peeeeee vaaaaaalve

Re: Hammerhead requires a big hammer

I had a similar issue with my Secondary, and yes it had to go back to Kevin. I believe it was the pressure transducer.

http://www.rebreatherworld.com/gener...tml#post138112

I Fed Ex'd the head up there and had it back within a week. Unbelievable service. I really appreciated it.

Might take a while longer now because of the Holidays.

Re: Hammerhead requires a big hammer

I had that issue with an older version handset. Does yours have a small hole in the face where the transducer sits? Kevin has altered the design so that this doesn't happen anymore.

I still don't see what this has to do with your solenoid not firing.

Good luck.

Aloha,
Charlie

The solenoid will fire with a new battery.
My handsets have 4 very small holes in the back for the transducer.

You must have a hell of a shed!

That is not actually the most recent metal handset...because it has a hole on top of the pressure transducer. You should ask Kevin for a new face plate that has a channel cut into it leading to the lens opening. This keeps more of an air pocket in front of the pressure transducer. I had quite a few pressure transducer problems with the prior metal handsets, but I have over 120 hours on my new handset, at depths to 350 feet, without any pressure transducer issues.

Aloha,
Charlie
