I'd rather have it on my wrist.

A VR3 strap fits the X1 nicely

A another vote for the VR3 wrist strap - it's a perfect fit

The VR3 strap fits fine if you have a dry suit on, but I find it to be a royal PITA over a wetsuit or a bare wrist/forearm. It might have been because the VR3 weighs the same as a medium sized brick. Perhaps the strap would work well with the much smaller and lighter X1.

Good point - I do dive with a dry suit. If I were diving bare or with a light wet suit, I would use the factory supplied strap. With a 7mm, I would use the VR3 strap.

I just dove for a week in Fiji with a bare arm. VR3 strap on the X1 worked great.

That sounds worth trying then. I guess that it has a better chanceof being stable on a bar arm simply because it's so much smaller and lighter than the VR3 brick. Thanks for letting us know Scubadan.

Two loops of 1/8 dameter surgical tube work better than anything. Instant kit up / kit off, total redundancy, fit any suit in any condition, and dirt cheap. Works for knives too. Try it, you'll like it.

I COULD NOT agree more. Ditch the straps. Two loops of tubing. Instant on/off, no slipping.
Good suggestion, Dave

Re: X1 Heavy duty wrist strap

I've switched my sugical tubing to bungee cord. I've found it lasts longer and is easy to retie when I switch from a wet suit to my dry suit.

Re: X1 Heavy duty wrist strap

I reverted to a similar strap as the Vr3. The bungees were cut by the X1's housing. The two 'bars' where the strap/bungee goes under are somewhat sharp on the inside and cut the bungees.
