| Liquivision X1 battery replacement policy wacked! Did anyone else notice this statement before they purchased their X1? The battery in the X1 cannot be removed, replaced or repaired. If the battery in the X1 fails during the Warranty Period, Liquivision will replace your X1. If the battery in the X1 fails after the Warranty Period, you may purchase a replacement X1 at your cost. The warranty period is one year. What this means to me is that an X1 will potentially cost $1600 a year to maintain, because neither you nor Liquivision can replace the battery. They can only replace the entire computer...AT YOUR COST. Has anyone noticed this before? I am all about the "openness" of the X1's software model, but give me a break! You potentially have to buy another computer every year in order to use it! How ridiculous is this crap?

| Re: Liquivision X1 battery replacement policy wacked! I think I read somewhere that the battery is expected to last ten years? On the plus side, if the battery holds out then over that period you will have saved a load of money on batteries compared with for example a VR£...

| Re: Liquivision X1 battery replacement policy wacked! that leads me to think they are potted into the unit.... I think you're right. However, many types of potting can be dissolved away so given the choice of a dead lump of metal or digging around trying to fix it, I know what I'd be doing. It does seem harsh limiting the battery warranty. I wonder how many years a dive computer is realistically used for though? Most people would probably be ready to upgrade after a few years to version x.xxx, with MP3, Video, GPS and diver locater built in...

I thought they were using rechargable lithium batteries.. if thats the case regardless if its lithium ion or lithium polymer, the expected life in use or even sitting is around 3 years..
