| Suunto compuers-differing no deco times. I had a couple of dives on Wed eve, both non deco on OC air. I was wearing my Vyper, so it has logged some notrogen. Today I was also diving non deco, computers set to air [my buddies were air OC] and I had a Vyper strapped on the same wrist. Despite the 61 hour 10 min surface interval, the 'fresh' Vyper gave me up to 6 minutes more time than the Vytec that I had dived. I know that the Suunto memory is 96 hours, but I was surprised by the difference in times, any comments? Trip report will follow.

Were the vyper and vytec same vintage ? Some of the Vytec DS units have been a bit more conservative (less no stop time) than the original Vytec. Also were the base settings (conservatism) exactly the same? I was wearing my Vyper, so it has logged some notrogen. It's also possible the pressure transducer in the unit was out of calibration. If one was reading a deeper depth it would give less no-stop time. Cheers

| Re: Suunto compuers-differing no deco times. Hi Joel, The computers are both early [non DS] models, same settings on each. The Vyper reads 0.1-0.2m less on average, less than a foot. Anyway here are the readings, in excel format as it's difficult to insert text as a table:

The only way to tell which one is to get a third unit and put all three in a test pot and run them down to compare. This puts them all at the exact same depth (without arm movements) and you can see which one is really off. I'f you dont have a shop that has a test pot send em all to me and we can run them in our pot. We also have other Vypers and Vytecs to compare to. You might want to consider putting them on Ebay and ordering a nice Cochran or VR3 from us ! Lemme know if you would like us to run them for you. cheers

| Re: Suunto compuers-differing no deco times. Thanks for the offer, but sending them to the US for a check is a bit far! I'm not overly concerned with the slight variations, but I'll take my Cobra in as well on one dive [Suunto collector? Me?] and see how they go at a 'known' depth. I'll post the results on here when I have them. David.

| Re: Suunto compuers-differing no deco times. Had a bimble last night [OC so no report!] with the Vytec, Vyper and Cobra, all agreed on depth and no deco times. Must just be the long memory of the Vyper.
