Gill,

Great article it would be good if you could publish it in the library. Are the threads already tapped into the Meg head in ports A, H & S? Can you run the Copis handset as well? Or is the load to much too piggy back three connectors per cell?

Louis

Have some green great write up.

Looks good
I went a bit further and took out the Copis handset & battery box - I think I'll be investing in a second shearwater for redundency (when I have some money )
I also drilled a few holes and put small retaining bolts in there to stop the plugs unscrewing (as the Copis handset plug has). I don't know if there's any real risk of that happening?

Re: My Installation of the Shearwater GF and HUD to the Copis Megalodon Rebreather

thanks, I'd consider entering a version in the library but sites like Flickr allow for a specific format that lends it's self well to such a report...and it saves a little space on Rebreather World server (like that's ever been a concern of mine;~).

The threads are there already there making the Copis perhaps one of the most readily customizable rebreathers on the market. No drilling, tapping, no soldering...I was practically sold on the Copis for this reason alone. there is not a rebreather on the market with the configuration I wanted...I knew I would have to retrofit. I'm not a homebuilder type but I do want to have choices about electronics...and my preferences keep changing and evolving over time so modularity became a high priority.

the stock copis handset is still in place in port P. To have all three hooked up would take soldering I believe and i'm not sure how each addition might effect the millivolts.

thanks jo for the pic. I'm fickle enough that I don't want to do anything to the head that I can't undue if I want to sell it down the line.

I am planning on buying a second Shearwater and cable for back up as well.

Thanks for sharing, It looks great.

The guys at Juargesen were able to keep my Copis Handset connected with the hammerhead and it works great, I've not had any problems with the MV and it's still redundant as they both use their own power.

Like you said it may require some soldering.

Absolutely wonderful writeup. I've been interested in how to install a shearwater HUD for ages.
Thanks!
