![]() ![]() | Fastest unit to prepare I would like to start a discussion regarding views on which rebreather units are fastest to prepare to a diveable state. One of the downsides of Rebreather diving compared to OC is that you need to prep the unit. Just as with manufcaturing companies who design products for production lines to be fast in putting together. Has anyone any views who owns several units. |

On a practical level there isn't much difference but when it becomes a competition it is very hard to beat a SK. The same goes btw for stripping and cleaning the unit.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Fastest unit to prepare Personally, my opinion is it's not about speed it's about getting it right. Before a diving weekend/trip, I'll assemble the unit which may take up to 45mins or so (checking removing and regreasing o rings if necessary). I take my time and follow the checklist. I can do it a lot quicker, but I give myself lots of time to do it properly. When I get on the boat, I positive, negative, check cells/electronics, check wing inflate, adv, o2 button etc. Then a pre-breathe before the dive - that's it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Fastest unit to prepare ZERO debate on this one for me, having basically used them all. rEvo, hands down. Easiest rig to live with on a daily basis imginable. Sport Kiss, second. Not nearly as capable as the rEvo but setup time is just about the same. All due respect to Paul and Dutchy: I own and dive them both. rEvo is easier... and it's also a lot better rig from mny other standpoints. Worst? Mark-15. Just a matter of scrubber packing time. All the rest are in the middle. None much better or worse. Dave .

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Fastest unit to prepare eeuuhhh.... the rEvo ? I agree with Paul, so, in my experience thus far, the rEvo was manufactured to be quick and easy to maintain and build and is one of the easiest, high quality, substantial CCR's currently on the market.![]() paul A person looking at build time also needs to look at what you are going to do with your rebreather and how it will be used so you can pick the right unit for your needs. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Fastest unit to prepare Well... I think people are missing the obvious and that's the Optima and for the reason that Dave has mentioned the MK-15 as being the longest due to scrubber packing. The EAC cartridge wins hands down on the lowest amount of time that it takes to replace/prep a consistant scrubber. Sooooooo..... don't only suggest the rig that you own, sell or teach and look at the market as whole. Personally the speed at which a unit can be prepared is prettly low on my list of selection critera for a CCR. Dive Safe... Mark |

Hi Mark, I could tell you nice story's of livaboards, different rebreathers, multiple dives a day... who relaxes the most and who is passing all the time working on their rig...The EAC cartridge wins hands down on the lowest amount of time that it takes to replace/prep a consistant scrubber.
