the sentinel is no faster or slower than an inspiration or a meg, but it may may seem slower as with the full 18 hour checks it counts you down on the pre breathe and neg test making it impossible to cut them short and also lists all the things you sould check, so its hard to forget or skip certain steps, the emphasis on the Sentinel isn't to perform a fast check, the emphasis is on a QUALITY check the unit tries to ensure you do the correct check taking into account the amount of time since your last dive or cal. therefore it shortens the checks if allowable.

for me a quality check is what matters

i have seen the revo close up and am very impressed with its "user friendliness" and will more than likely go down that route in the future, but lets not forget changing a prepacked scrubber in 38 seconds isnt a comprehensive predive check, and thinking about it, in a prepacked scrubber changing situation then my money would be on the meg... 4 clips, pull scrubber drop in new close the 4 clips done! i reckon it would be faster. but like i said i wouldnt be trying to sell a unit on its "speed".

Did I understand someone properly when they told me the Sentinel requires tools to put it together? Just curious. I'm impressed with the beefy engineering design that went into it.

no tools to put together or take apart?!?!? twist and push button for hose removal, the mouth piece is held with retaining rings that can be removed by hand, the body has a retainer which you pull and twist, infact without tools you can take it further apart (into more pieces) than you can either the meg or the inspo.

OK. I probably misunderstood their enthusiasum for the engineering and took something literally. I got to see one in action last weekend and see it all apart on a bench a few days before that. Very impressive. The unit is very heavy though.

I think the unit weighs somewhere around 90 lbs ready to dive, doesn't it?

Re: Fastest unit to prepare

we are thread jackin a bit, but errr 90 lbs thats about 41 kilos, my unit is away at the moment but when its back ill let you know, but that sounds a bit much to me... 27 kilos dry unit inc cylinders, 2.2 kilos of slime, 4 kilos of lead (for me anyway) 800 litres of gas (air and o2) about 1.1 kilos so that comes out at 34.3 kilos or 75.5 lbs

regards si

Re: Fastest unit to prepare

No idea which is fastest to assemble.

Don't personally believe that it makes a difference, I still don't get the idea that rebreathers take longer to set up than OC.

Its not a race and speed is probably the best way to make mistakes.

Its best to get it right and take a little longer than rush it and end up hurt

Re: Fastest unit to prepare

Another vote for the rEvo. I find it slightly faster than the Sport Kiss and much faster than the Classic Kiss. I've owned all three.

Regards,

Ed
