Re: Drager CCR vs. Other Rebreathers

I think I have seen a few peeps here using a dolphin first stage. Does anyone know how low the IP can be adjusted on one?
Dave

Be awfly careful.
The original Drager 1st stage had a safety feature built in. If the orifice's were blocked the pressure would build up until it lifted the ADV and bled gas into the loop.
This means there is IP creep if flow is sufficiently low.

Are you using a special orifice?
The hydrogom I had from Jeroen runs a 0.009mm orifice.

0.8ltr/min flow on a 0.009 orifice means an IP of 13.9 (rounded).
At 19 bar (assuming no IP creep that is designed into the Draeger valves) means a flow of a nads over 1ltr/min.
To get a flow of 0.8 from an IP of 19 bar you need a 0.0077mm orifice.

Brent

Hi, i canīt tell what size my orifice actually is but it delivers 0,8 ltr./min at 19 bar.
I know for sure itīs smaller than the standard orifice coming with the hydrogom valve.
So propably you are right with the size you mentioned.

Regarding creeping IP see my other reply.

I donīt know about the 1st generation piston 1st stages.
Iīm using the 2nd generation Draeger diaphragm 1st stages and they can reach up to 20 bar.
Make sure your IP hoses can handle that.

This model completly shuts off the HP once the adjusted IP is reached unlike the 1st generation piston 1st stage which used to have IP creeping.
For mCCR of course my ADV is not connected to the O2 side.
