System for reporting dangerous products in the European union

As I am somewhat involved in the safety of diving in the Swedish Sportsdiving federation, I have come in contact with the Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket). Once per week an update is done to the system named RAPEX EUROPA - Consumer Affairs - Safety - Rapid Alert System for non-food consumer products (RAPEX). Since RAPEX started, not very many Scuba Diving products have been listed (3 AFAIK) http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/dyna/r...pex_search.cfm. Why not start a new trend and contact your country responsible http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/safety...act_points.pdf in order to report default/ dangerous consumer products within the Scuba Diving industry?

If this is done we might be able to reduce the numbers of posts with us bashing at each others....

hello Hakan, when you dive your rEvo, please strapp the harness so that the unit is not floating half a meter higher then your shoulders, like you did with your KISS :-) (see your avatar :-)

Hi Paul,

I'll update my avatar when possible. However as far as I know I am not booked for a rEVO course and not planning on changing to another Rebreather. If your launch of the rEVO had come somewhat earlier I might have considered this unit.

Maybe somebody has booked me into this course without me knowing it or maybe somebody is after my KISS.

The Avatar picture as you pointed out, Paul shows just as you wrote a quite loose shoulder strap. It has been adjusted since...

Hi,

That seems to be a good idea, although how would the authority take action in case there was no recall from the original manufacturer regarding a certain product that someone complained about?

I think the main problem doing so however is that there are many rebreather parts which are customized, modified and sometimes they are homebuilt.

As far as I know this system is for reporting products purchased from a manufacturer, thus does not concern homebuilds. To what content modified RBs are covered I do not know.
