A friend of mine helped me with changing connectors from molex to coax. We bought a kit of cables with fitted connectors (one in each end) from elfa.se. The small plugs shown in the first picture was removed so silicone could be filled in the empty space. When the job was done we had one spare connector which was used to make an adaptor (as shown in the last picture).

Just a note for those who might not know of this. I think it's worth mentioning for those who will give this good mod a try.
Most silicone sealants excrete acetic acid when it cures which eats away at the copper conductors and solder which often causes a failure.
Be sure to use the right sealing compound.

Thanks for the advise
Can you tell us what the right sealing compound is called and where to get it.
Thanx

The Coax is a much better way to connect to the cell and I thought by now everyone would be doing it.
One possible reason is it locks you into one specific sensor vendor (for the moment anyway), AP Valve.

The other reason could be that unless you have adequate spares, you can't use Molex sensors from your buddies if yours failed on a long trip.

The second reason was why a cross-over connector (allowing Vision owners to use Molex sensors) was offered a few months ago by Steevke. It is similar to the adapter shown in the picture above.

This was news to me. What time frame are we talking about here, 1 year or 10 years?

Silicone sealant contains acetic acid (which is why it smells like vinegar)when it is fresh out of the tube. When the silicone is cured, the smell stops. During this period is the only time the etching of the conductor takes place.
This can leave the joint weakend which will result in premature failure. It may never fail, but it will still have been etched and therefore weakend.

Cheap household sealant types still use acetic acid, it is usually written on the tube. If it smells like vinegar, its not the right one to use. Generally, a potting compound is a better option.
