I THINK THE WAY THE REBREATHERS MIX THE GAS NEED SOME WORK. totally agree. why use a simple solution when you could add a load of twaddle and make it complex. Tell us again about your vapourware? ie: WHEN THE GAS IS ADDED TO THE LOOP SHOULD IT BE DIRECTED TO A FAN DRIVEN MIXING TUBE AND SUPER MIXED ? and then sensored as correctly mixed signaling a valve that finally allows it to reach the diver.......... ![]()

![]() ![]() | Drip? [drip Excuse my ignorance, but what does "drip" mean when used in the context of a monosyllabic response to a post?

| Smeagle-the dive carnival Current Rebreather/s: | DID someone say nearly indestructable! I'm SO IN!! I love the idea of open source as we can all swap ideas. This constantly happens with the guys I am around here in Lebanon. Out here we have guys who work and machine parts for a living ALL OVER THE PLACE. It's easier to machine it than get the stock part from Germany. It lead to a redesign on my reel that can now take the captain dropping a deco bottle down the shoot line! YEAH I tested it! Cool huh?!? They work stainless and marine aluminum like it was plastic. They are more than comfortable doing one offs and love the idea of a challenge. The trouble is getting the stuff out of the country. Anyone up for a vacation to work on this? My trouble is the electronics and servos but cases and lungs I can tackle P.S. Just to vote in I'm loving the radial scrubber.

![]() ![]() | Re: Want to help design a new rebreather? Hi everyone, this topic is great, I came to this site because I am currently an Industial Design student and I am working on designing a prototype rebreather for a long term school/ personal project. What I came here for is some user opinions, I read this thread and in my opinion the best way to get this progect going is to list design feature you, as rebreather divers, want to see in a rebreather. Stuff like size, bottle configuration, the problems you notice with your current system, because these are the comments designers are trained to look for a base a design around. Its far to early in the design process to talk a bout materials and building methods. Another good resource would be if any one has the plans to exhisting models or homebuilds, if these were posted for everyone to review they could spur great ideas. I have a solidworks model partially built for my early design I could post soon. Its based of a simple design using any regulator first stage (the model uses atomic m1 first stages) and any size bottles (model uses 40's, a common size any one probably already has 2, probably over kill, but any size will fit) mounted horizontally on the lower half of a modified single tank adaptor. The scubber canister is mounted horizontally as well above the tanks on ths adaptor. The counter lungs are modular and could either be mounted on the back (on either side of the scubber) or over over the shoulder, depending on which counter lung style you select. The unit itself could be set up on any backplate and wing set up you like. I am sort of working in the blind though since I've only really used a ccr in demos. Id love to get one, but its hard enough to buy open circuit gear when you have to pay tuition, so any comment you guys have I would love to intgrate into my design. thanks |

![]() | Re: Want to help design a new rebreather? I am sure you have seen the thread on CO2 testing, at the end of it Alex proposes utilising our collective experience to help design an open source rebreather - we could call it the Rebreather World Revolution ;-) stuart ,now see what you did??? you went and woke up all the jail house lawer's out there, now they will want us all to DO AS THEY SAY, AND NOT AS THEY DO .....Everything about it open with the testing published for all to see and comment on and help influence the design... Well anyway - if there is positive feedback on this I am happy to get Rebreather World involved in this formally and provide the 40gb web space needed and have Rebreather World host the development forums.... So vote and let us know please....plus any ideas..... Stuart |
