Halycon PSCR manual wanted

Hi,

I am looking for Halcyon semi closed passive addition rebreather manual sometimes is called " Big Hall" (predessessor of the Rebreather 80).

Never heard of that. Are you sure it is not the PVR-BASC ?

I owned one (a long time ago) and IIRC, there was no manual.

Errol Kalayci used to teach the course for it (IANTD first, then GUE) so he started to write an article about it, I think I still have a copy laying around. It doesn't contain how-to-dive instructions though...

Hi Phi,

Yes, I am looking for any doc for PVR-BASC ("The Fridge", or whatever nikname that device had in the past) you had in the past. I will apriciate if you can shave with me what you have.

This is the aforementioned document, I don't think there is any copyright to it...

Just read this document ( thanks for it ), do you think the Halcyon 2 mentionned at the end of it is in fact the ancestor of RB80?

No, IIRC (and it has been a long time ago), the Halcyon-2 was the cheaper version, without the depth compensator to the vent ratio is fixed. The frame is exactly the same as the PVR-BASC. It was promoted for use with Nitrox for shallower diving.

Yes, if you are thinking fixed vent ratio as being the ancestor.

AFAIK from talking to Reinhard years ago, the reason for depth-compensator not included on the Rebreather-80 was a space issue.

There is an IANTD manual for the PVR-BASC which I have read.

It's quite a good manual, and makes interesting reading.

Perhaps you can contact Mike Fowler who was the Instructor at IANTD in South Africa at the time that one of my buddies did the PVR-BASC course with him.
