I have been trying to get ahold of Dean Smart but can not find a contact number or anything. Dean has been living here in Thailand for ages and even help Matt London with finding Song Hong and Sre Keo. If anybody knows where the caves are this is the guy to ask. Just got back from diving north of Kanchaburi, was going to stop and check out a few other spots but we needed to get back to Pattaya. I will do some more research here shortly. I am off to Florida for a few weeks mid January.

I do appreciate the references, do greatly appreciate it. I have tried for ages to find Deans contact info. I will let you know if I am able to come up with anything in the future. Mostly I have been looking for is training caves to give the students some good training in. If we could only find that one that is 3 km long with in 40 meters depth. Most of the caves that I have found I have given the GPS's to some of the cave agencies. Hopefully we will get more people in this region interested in cave diving.

I just got details of the Tham Phet cave (Diomond cave) and its reported as the longest cave in Thailand at 7km,
If this is the same Tham Phet (Tam Pet) then Ive seen some pics of the waterway - looks interesting and from the discription I was previously given (most likely from the same source that you got details from ) a nice long (dry) cave to the water

Possible,

I doubt very much its the same source unless he carries a mithacle cane pointed shoes and a magic ball i think its a different fellow, he visits me often to enlighten my day and on this occasion provided me with tales of amazing cave dives in a far eastern province only ever visited by sacrid ones.

Far out, I was wondering were I left that.

Check out my Indiana Jones experience I had diving Sra Keow with Ben on his build up dives last year. While doing my deco I came across a chain of Buddha amongst the leaves in the shallows as I cut it free I suddenly had a crazy vision of the cave collapsing around me and trapping Ben as he was still in the depths, Took it anyway

Apparently it’s worth 5k and over 100 years old. Sod the brass lets look for more Buddha.

Re: Tam Sar Yuan Thong cave,Thailand

Just got back from a fun day of caving with Ben in Krabi at Tam Phet and Tam Sar Yuan Thong cave.

First we took a look at the tam Phet cave, its entrance is amazing with Buddhist Monks and shrines at the entrance and is one of the most amazing dry caves I have visited her in Thailand. the walls are covered with amazing formations and flow rock covered in gem. It’s some 200m inside through lots of passageways until the water edge. Having carried the Doubles and full kit in it was a little disappointing to find it doesn’t go, its stops some 10m from the pool and is only a few meters deep.

The second cave was the Tam Sar Yuan cave and wow.

Having trekked through the vegetation you find yourself inside the main chamber with a large turquoise pool, located at the rear of the main chamber is a very small hole that we dropped into leading to a tight passage some 50ft and only 1.5m high. We crawled hand and knee’s wearing a full set of double to immerge at another pool that was crystal clear and very inviting, we both made a dive to find it had already been lined by a member of the old Thailand cave club (Jason) Its has several passage and is relatively shallow as we only hit 18m on both our dives.
A few pics - none wet plenty very muddy,

Mike you will like these buddy at the end of the month looking forward to the next visit.

Interesting find...too bad you are not an archaeologist, anthropologist, moralist or understand anything about Buddhist culture. The Buddha Statue signifies the "Enlightened One," the basic idol of Buddhism....as well thier beliefs and morals. It certainly is a good thing that all CCR diver instructors and self professed professionals are not looters and pillagers. Better think twice about keeping that one my friend, and/or be more discerning with those whom you share your pillaged goods! Jealousy? Not even hardly close!
