Duncan. Thanks for the memory of Steve Whynn-Roberts (died, cancer) We first worked together when I was offshore with Sub Sea International when they took over Strongwork, Steve was ex Underwater Welders and had a place in Tyseal base Aberdeen during the 70’s oil boom. In those days he was building compressors, submersible hydraulic power packs and diving systems for the offshore diving industry. We also worked together with Oman Navy, and with the Sri Lankan Navy, u/w weapons. We last worked together with HSM just prior to his diagnosis on the design and build of the DDRC hyperbaric chamber.
As for the French DC55 in those days we were aware of a number of French exotic products “Frogs” and “Crabs” being the most memorable. RIP Steve.

Iain

There was an obituary published about him in the CDG Newsletter, probably also the general caving press too. I understand that he was a hard hat diver until the early '70's then moved into submarine engineering. Windsurfing was his other love.
