![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | manual-add spigot fun Re: Tighten Your Nuts The other one to check is the spiggots for manual O2 and dil - discovered one of these loose and backing quietly out of the plastic body. My O2 spigot surprised me with that.It was a practice dive & I was reaching for the ladder to climb out of the water when "FWOOOSHHHHH!" Major bubbles. Part of my brain is thinking free flow, but I knew I had no 2nd-stage anywhere near there. I was pleasantly surprised how natural the o2-valve shutoff seemed (only practice drills to that point). At first I thought the quick-connect had disconnected, then I saw the spigot's threads happily extending out of the quick-connect fitting. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to screw that back in at depth with dry-gloves. I might have noticed the spiggot, been able to remove it to close off the manual-o2-add line and let the solenoid carry on. Or equally likely, just assume a busted hose and time to bailout. So anyway, I've got another item to add to my snug-it checks now - said checks happening when I prep the unit for a trip (whether weekend or week-long). I've been going for "snug(not firm) w/pliers" on the spiggots. So, finger tight on the knurled hose couplings? This is a very interesting thread. I'm doing my first insp-teardown this winter; replacing o-rings, heads going in for service and all that. I'd welcome additional maintenance tips for things that you diligent, experienced divers check. John G. |
