| CHRISB Current Rebreather/s: | Re: My first screw up on Boris Thanks for sharing, What is particularly great about this post is the fact that it is coming from someone with loads of experience, particularly the recent deep cave dive. What this reitterates to me is that ALL dives on CCR are technical dives and should not be carried out lightly...attention to detail is still as important at 60m (or 30m) as is to exploration depths. Its posts like these that truly make this site a worthwhile read for ANYONE who's CCR diving....that scare and chill down your spine after realising you lived through 'a roulette spin with all chambers full but one' - was shared with all of us!!! Cheers...

Who has been long here will know what I mean! I thank God that you made it out alive and this your willingness to live is remarkable and something needed for great dives especially deep and in caves! On an other note, something to learn from here is, many have been bitten back in the as.. on "shallow" normal dives , particular to detail is always important from deep dives to imtermediate depth. If I am not mistaken John Bennet died in 60m dive after he did his 300m+. Thanks for sharing Mike and stay safe but deep Quote: (Originally Posted by CHRISB) Thanks for sharing, What is particularly great about this post is the fact that it is coming from someone with loads of experience, particularly the recent deep cave dive. And i think this so great about DrMikes sharing. It shows the inherent danger. |

I did wonder though, if your deco was so much longer than planned surely you where last up? In which case why wheren't the boat crew able to float free of the line and give you a much easier time to get up the ladder (IIRC you use a fixed boat?) Over here the boat is always mobile and it makes for easier pickups even in huge seas... Moreover if they saw your struggling why didn't they just throw a line round you and haul you out!!! Glad to hear you made it, analysing O2 crossed my mind as I did it at the weekend "why am I doing this when I just filled it off an O2 supply bottle? because you don't know what some idiot put in the supply bottle! :-)" BEN |

Getting pulled/pulling along the trail line to the back of the boat wasnt the problem (thats what happened) - its getting out of the water up a bucking ladder without a girt big steel dive boat coming down on your head that is the hard part.I did wonder though, if your deco was so much longer than planned surely you where last up? When Im behind 200 tons of dive boat the last thing I want it to be is free to run me over as its pushed by the currents/wind. Id rather have it fixed Tried that, didnt like it.

| PRISM DIVER & LUVIN IT! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: My first screw up on Boris Wow hell of a story, thanks for sharing ![]() ![]() I remember your tale of getting lost inside a wreck since then I run a line no matter what. Long story short the viz went from 40'+ to 2' and I was just circling wreck no penetration. It was my first cold water ccr boat dive. I would never have run a reel before that post, luckly it was read long before that dive. It would have sucked shooting a bag first time out. Anyway your lesons are well learned and thanks again for sharing.

Hi Mike, this is the main reason I like mid point/side entry on a dive boat-the ladder/steps are at the fulcrum and there's much less motion. I know people who've broken bones on ladders at the back of a pitching boat in rough seas... -Andy |
