Sorry to get in the way of people trying to find out about the loss of a mate.

If the moderators feel like altering threads in the future, please consider what people have written. I have been made to look like a ***** by these amendments which is particularly upseting given the topic.
what amendments? - I changed the title to CCR as you were having a pop about it being called a Meg death.

I am still not sure why yo are giving Mel a hard time when she did not even start the thread!

I am confused now!

Re: CCR Death in Florida

Hi i'm new to the list so please forgive me for adding to a fairly emotive subject.
  • Would I be correct in saying that this sad loss involved a diver using a CCR?
  • If true then is it not important to raise the issue and try and find out what went wrong?
  • The diver is an intergal part of a CCR, if divers keep dying then something needs to change be it the diver or machine, no?
  • Not all CCR's are 100% safe, name one that is, it would be ashame to always assume an accident is always human error.

Re: CCR Death in Florida

It's certainly been a depressing year on the number of deaths, even my normally sanguine nature is beginning to take a bit of a battering. Please everyone, let's let actual facts some to the fore, otherwise spend you energy on considering the friends and relatives.

regards

Ed

Re: CCR Death in Florida

I'm amazed at this twisted cycle that seems to follow any death related to diving rebreathers that has become a pattern.

In any other recreational industry, take for example Motor-cycles (street bikes) If a accindent occurs no one questions what brand of bike the rider using. Ok closer to home ... Oc death does anyone ever question the regulator brand used ?

This is the exact mentality that keeps the industry infantile, with out growth.
this is why brand X is taught by this agency and brand Y is by this agency, hearsay that clouds the very judgement of those who issue our insurance and set our standards.

The very emotional discussion of the death has changed the name of the title ,yet the content has remanded the same, now the members of the forum are seeing the very thing we changed the title from.

I Apologize for straying from the aforementioned condolences to the family and friends of the Mr, Jones .
Peace be with you all.

Hi Stuart, just so you know, when I first saw this thread yesterday, Mel's post appeared at the top of the 1st page. It was only after I checked back a few hrs later that I saw that she did not start the thread. Some kind of glitch? Did anyone else see this?-Andy

No glitch. Waynne started a thread in the intro forum (I asume because it was his first) 5 1/2 hours earlier. Bruce replied, then later Mel started this one in the proper forum. I merged the two because there is no sense having them separate and I merged them here because its right place for them to be. Posts stay in chronological oreder, hence Waynne's and Bruce's are the first two.

Stefan,
as you know I am already a moderator/admin over on the DiveOz forums. It may be a better practice when splitting or merging posts that the moderator doing that makes a message to that effect... While I may not get it right every time, I do try to let people know why things change on those forums...

To the subject: Condolences to Zak's family during this time. No words can bring back a loved one but be proud of how highly he is regarded within the community.
