Its illegal to make obscene gestures to bystanders on the quayside too, but most skippers let me do it. Its usually helpful in cases like this to increase the signal and decrease the noise, perhaps everyone could help in doing that....

I don't pretend to know, but there is a connection, perhaps a chance that the air surrounding the dive was influenced by the added sense of risk of gettting caught. Nervous tension certainly increases the chance of making mistakes.Its illegal to make obscene gestures to bystanders on the quayside too, but most skippers let me do it. Its usually helpful in cases like this to increase the signal and decrease the noise, perhaps everyone could help in doing that.... Probably not worth saying, but... probably best to not be doing anything illegal while diving a rebreather...prbably a good policy for boat opperators to enforce within reason. just MHO.

In most states, equipment used in the commission of a crime is forfeited.. The chance of loosing expensive dive gear would get me nervous...
