![]() ![]() ![]() | Thought some of you might appreciate reading about this real, actual, no-shizzit event that happened here a couple of weeks ago. Not many SK's down our way but I'll do my best to maintain the users anonimity. Here goes: SK user "Anon" was ascending in a few metres of open water when he felt a tug on his mouthpiece followed immediately by a very dramatic increase in the WOB and not very subtle loss of bouyancy. Looking around to check on things, "Anon" observed his breathing hoses going straight up to his, now inverted and free floating, scrubber which in turn gave on to a pair of counterlungs dutifully and alternately inflating and deflating as he struggled to work the loop. A major barotrauma of the unit, if you will. The band that retains the scrubber in the Sport Kiss "Biscuit Tin" had given way allowing the whole inner gubbins to make a dash for the surface leaving "Anon" dangling from his hoses! I mean, it's hillarious to imagine but quite nasty really and if it wasn't for "Anon"'s ability to remain calm and complete his ascent, it could have been tragic. He was able to stay on the loop and make the surface as he was only a few metres down at the time it happened. So SK people, take heed and if you are not already checking the integrity and security of that strap thing that holds the scrubber in the tin, during pre-dive checks, maybe think about it? He's gonna give me hell for posting this but if it helps avert even 1 more of this kind of episode, then it'll be worth it... Ray.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Biscuit Tin (Sport Kiss) Users - SECURE THAT SCRUBBER! I always use a 12" tie wrap thru the slots in the scrubber case and it works great and as they say in your part of the globe they are "Cheap as chips" Kevin |

This is from last May: Having just finished my training with Alan, the connector pods are now secured as shown below. With both pods secured in this manner the little tether isn't used anymore, and this method prevents both the red pods from turning as well as the scrubber from popping out. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Biscuit Tin (Sport Kiss) Users - SECURE THAT SCRUBBER! The same thing happened to my Wife on her Sports Kiss course. I believe Jetsam now does not use the Velcro strap any more to hold down the scrubber. "Anon" will be relieved to hear he was not the only one!Louis ![]()

It has been a long-time known issue with the SK when instances the diver jumps from a relatively high position into the water. As an additional function, the bottom baffle inside the housing supposedly reduces the amount of force pushing on the CL/scrubber. But not 100% effective... The KISS instructor should have been aware of this issue, and should have done both of these steps:
