Re: Video of a C02 hit

The man from the HSE, said his enquires led him to believe that the practice of tipping out the scrubber, mixing it up & putting back in was common practice. I find this quite hard to believe...

Is it commonly done?

Otherwise & interesting video....

Re: Video of a C02 hit

This is a must see for every rebreather diver, especially newbies!

I had no idea that the effects of CO2 lasted that long. I was under the impression that once you got off the loop the Bailout would flush the CO2 out fairly quickly.

Thanks for posting the link... It's a life saver.... Green is in order.....

Re: Video of a C02 hit

WOW...that was quite sobering, the high number of breaths per minute, the feeling that you don't want to be there, as well as the thought that the surface is not attainable are VERY familiar. This video was taken at a depth of 18M, and, believe me, at 25M it is even scarier. I cannot imagine what that would feel like at an even greater depth.

Rules to continue to breathe by:

Everyone is free to make thier own personal choices, however, from now on, I will NEVER reuse 'sorb:

a) that had been previously used, then repacked in the canister;
b) that was left inside the 'breather without having been bagged;
c) that was bagged, and unused for a period greater than 21 days;
d) a second day that has less than half it's recommended life remaining;
e) that has seen more than three short (1hr) dives (@<40M) that same day;
f) that has been previously used on a single dive greater than 60M.

Re: Video of a C02 hit

A deep dive into the incidence pit. Apart from the obvious things it makes you think what to expect from buddies/safety divers? (Note to self: discuss with buddies)
My BOV is on on-board gas and I must admit it's not always full...3l*300 Bar is a lot of gas 3*80 Bar isn't. I was struck by the length of the incident. A good reason to have the BOV on a full 7l even on the shallowest of dives.
