Jean-Jacques Bolanz

Bad, very bad news on Plongee-souterraine - Page d'accueil:
Jean-Jacques Bolanz, swiss cave diver is missing in lilly cave in grèce.

*Jean-Jacques n'est pas ressorti de sa dernière plongée à Lilly (Grèce). Luigi Casati revient de Crête pour essayer de le localiser.*

Mathias

Re: Jean-Jacques Bolanz

Very sad news!
Jean-Jacques Bolanz was one of the mythical cave divers and speleologists who did astonishing dives and discoveries back in the 1980's mainly in Europe. He was also the former president of the Cave Diving Commission of the International Union of Speleology and of the Swiss Cave Diving Rescue Team. Being already in his mid 60's he moved from oc to scr and later to ccr and continued to dive in resurgences and multisumps caves for the sake of exploration.

Really sad, he's the usual buddy of Gigi Casati. Hope that everything will be fine...hope.

Re: Jean-Jacques Bolanz

Some more info

Quote:
JJ Bolanz failed to return from a cave dive yesterday. He was 67 years old, diving in excess of 150m on a Voyager rebreather to explore a new deep section.

L. Casati is coming to Greece to retreive the body. The official announcement is here http://www.yen.gr/wide/yen.chtm?prnbr=31926 (in Greek).

Very sad news,

"Jean-Jacques a été retrouvé aujourd'hui par Luigi à 98 mètres de
profondeur dans la source de Lili."

Luigi found JJ at 98 meters, he was brought back to surface.

Re: Jean-Jacques Bolanz

He was one of the sweetest person I met, he was so human.

The international diving community has lost again another important point of reference.

With greatest respect.
