Not a Caustic Cocktail.

Last week as I had not used my Inspo for six weeks I decided to give it a good disinfect before taking out, I squerted Buddy clean down the hoses in the canister and about three times the normal for me amount in each counter lung. This is when things started to go wrong I got side tracked and left the rebeather in pieces and did something else,Two days later I rinsed counter lungs and hose between T pieces resembled unit and went diving.
During the pre breaths I noticed a slight taste of Buddy clean but nothing worse than I have noticed at other times,during the dive this taste got stronger and stronger I tried rinsing my mouth butthe taste got worse to the point that I was struggling to breath and had to bale out.
Got home rinsed the canister and it frothed up as soon as it got wet obviously the Buddy clean had dried until the moisture I exhaled restuctured it and turned it back to neat Buddy Clean.
From this I learned if there is a problem with the rebreather abort the dive, and as important clean and disinfect in one operation like I was taught.
I am posting this so that hopefully peaple will benefit from my stupidity.

Thanks for the reminder. Out of curiosity, how deep did you dive?
I remember a conversion regarding offgassing into the loop and how
ambient pressure of whatever you breathe can make a world of difference.

Max 16 metres, It was at 12metres about 7 minutesinto the dive when I first tried removing the mouth piece and rinsing my mouth did this another three times before going OC at about 20 minute,s by this time I was really stuggling to breath.
