MPS C3 Booster Pump
By Pat Coughlan
I have just received my new CE approved MPS C3 Booster after a very long wait. To be fair it wasn't Barrie at
Divertec’s fault but I'm sure he won't miss my weekly "Where’s my ******* pump?" phone call!
I honestly have to say it was worth the wait, the unit arrived in a 'peli type' case with wheels and an extendable handle for ease of transportation. This is a optional extra and the pump comes with a standard blow moulded carry case as standard, this however is worth the extra few bob, which reminds me I haven’t paid him for the case yet...
Opening the case up reveals the pump in all its glory. It comes with all the braided stainless steel whips and fittings required and a reg for the drive gas which attaches to the Humphrey Valve via a quick disconnect flexi hose. The case lid can also be removed.
Using the pump couldn't be easier - just plug in and play - connect the whips and drive gas and away you go!!
The specs are as follows
- 32:1 ratio
- 7.5 bar interstage pressure
- Min 5 bar fill gas
- Max 340 bar He
- 90 micron inline filter on O2 side
- Approx 400l/min drive gas
While filling a 3l Inspiration bottle
- 100 bar O2 in 3l bottle
- 100 bar in fill cylinder
- 220 bar in 12l drive gas cylinder
Time taken (roughly)to fill to 200 bar about 2.5 min and used 140 bar of drive gas so this beasty is thirsty on drive gas but I don’t think that is any major problem... well not for me anyway! I was more concerned with having the capacity to boost 10 and 12l cylinders. If a LP compressor is to be used one in the region of 10cfm would be required to drive it.
My opinion on the C3 is that it is a high quality great value booster pump that will give Haskel and any other pump manufacturer a run for their money.
The C3 rocks!
