Did you happen to see this? I was around in the afternoon and saw their new skipper (IIRC) who tried to stop the cylinder with his foot..!! (he was on crutches having returned from hospital)Mental note: do not try and play football with a run-away, high pressure, hard, fast moving object... it doesn't work and it will hurt. They all shat themselves by all accounts. It was a Drager valve apparantly. Some believed that had a bearing, who knows. Anyway, the chap put an adapter on it (of some description) that restricted the gas escaping (dont ask me how it got this far) it ended up on the floor rolling round, hit something hard, like a column, that took the valve clean-off. It proceeded to zoom around the shop like a very, very large, deranged blue bottle. I was told that it shot out the doorway and zoomed around the carpark but thought that was shite..!! Seems it was for real. It all 'appens down 'ere see. paul |

| Staying Silent! Mostly... Current Rebreather/s: | Cylinder Missile In that case I know never to challange you to a 100m dash as you must be related to Carl Lewis/Linford Christie if you can out run a cylinder 'missile' travelling at a rate of knots in your direction.... I personally wouldn't rate my chances that high of even seeing/hearing it coming let alone trying to dodge it ![]() Neil

Neil My point was that most people think that a cylinder valve failing will lead to an explosion, which it doesn't. An explosion being infinitely less survivable than your chances of dodging a self-propelled cylinder... It'll probably be a new Olympic Sport soon... Everything else seems to be... ![]()

| Proper Boffin ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | I've got a couple of valves you might be interested in... I've got 2x DIN valves kicking about that I'm pretty sure have got 3/4" threads on. You'll love these valves as they're not handed so will work equally happily on each side as bailouts, or you could even mount them on your SSBOD... The threads are a bit tired looking, but you're free to have them for nowt, so long as you accept that once I hand them over, anything that happens is nothing to do with me.... ![]() TTFN Si |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If Abyss-UK are still on the go then they used to sell Thermo valves. I have a couple of US Luxfers and they both have Thermo valves in them. I am in the same situation, not BS or EN stamped so they can't be stamped after a test. I get my local shop to test them and just give me a verbal OK on the understanding that a. they don't get a stamp or cert and b. they never turn up in the queue for filling. I have to admit, I do sneakily break rule B ![]() Anyhow, stop being such a tight git and buy an adaptor, they are only a few quid. Bodging does the job but I regularly shite myself in my garage using my Acme Decanting Kit, fettled from the guts of a MDE manifold with a couple of assorted adaptors on each end. No bleed screw, just undo the A-clamp slowly until the pressure releases -- either in the o-ring or your sphincter!!! ![]() |
