HID/LEDs rated to 200m

Hi

I still don't see many sport diving HID/LED lights rated to 200m+. The max. for many of them appears to be 150m. Has anyone here used a specific HID/LED light beyond 150m and if so please provide your comments on it's reliability.

Regards

AnneMarie

Re: HID/LEDs rated to 200m

Hi AM,

The Solus range is rated to 200m and can be upgraded for deeper use upon request. I haven't taken it past 65m but I have certainly tested it's robustness and it has performed flawlessly.

Solus

Cheers,

Ben.

Kevin, if you are reading I am only kidding I treat it with kid gloves and would never scrape it against caves, throw it around in gear bags or drop it on boat decks... honest

Certain green Force Lights rated to 300m.

I can Vouch for the Ceto and the Arrow 3LED umbilical at 185m, others have taken them much deeper

Also the 3AA 4LED backup light sold by Lumb Brothers works great at depth.

Xavier (who you know I believe) uses these:

they are bl**dy bright. and rated to 200m+

all absolutely solid, but not HID.

Many thanks for the information.

Yes, I have the GF LEDs already, they are certainly robust. I am currently assessing a broader spectrum of lights at the moment with a view to using more LED light sources. I have learned my lesson the hard way about relying on multiple HID lights (as primaries) and very poor LED backups.

Xavier's lights are excellent as backups but not sure about using them as primaries.

Regards

Ha, nice piece of fishing, don't worry, it's not on your territory, Jerome!

But then, no one is ever possessive over "their" caves are they

I am in France later in the year if you want to join forces on some diving.

I bumped into one of Pim's associates here in Thailand actually this week, however the weather has now turned very bad for diving.

Regards

AnneMarie
