I like the pathfinder style reel, my wallet likes the Salvo version :-) Only time I dont want pathfinder style reel is in cold water where I find the knob and screw are just too small to use with thick gloves and frozen hands We feel the same way about Manta stuff here. If you're happy with it... good for you. But once you use quality kit... well, the junk all gets tossed into the bin. Manta = Baseline Consumer Grade. Functional, but... well.... not top drawer. Salvo and Kent Tooling: Both great, each for different reasons. Mike, try some of the Kent stuff with your gloves on. You'll be a convert. Dave .

![]() | Re: the best primary reel... ??? Just reel it in a little faster than you swim... and tilt it slightly left and right as you do this... Hi, this is normally what I do, but if for some reason the line gets without tension, you can't have a away of doing it. I like the KentTooling because we can reel the line, while putting the line between your fingers, creating some tension. Regards, Luis |

Solid and simple. It's very easy to use the reel and light in the same hand simultaneously, and the reel can be temporarily locked by applying thumb pressure, easy to use with dry gloves, rarely any problems like jams or tangles. If I'm not using one of those reels, I use basic no-frills delrin spools.
