Re: the best primary reel...

The manta looks like that might be my next upgrade. I currently have the OMS and the tension screw offers no feathering upon deployment of the bag.

Manta also looks like one hand tension operation compared to my current two hand.

Re: the best primary reel...

Had a Manta Snr, I managed to buckle the spool. Now have a kent tooling 150m ratchet reel with which I have done 70 ish dives. Only problem I had was the line snapping. I can honestly say this reel will see me out. (Im 34 and have plenty of dives left in me!!)

Re: the best primary reel...

Another vote for Manta Reels, great for bagging off and running a permanent bag on the surface for a drift type dive where lots of adjustments are required.

Re: the best primary reel...

Hi,

I have an Halcyon Pathfinder, but I didn't find a correct way to put tension on the line when I'm following my way back. Can someone describe me the best way of putting tension in the line? And how can I redirectionate the line across the reel to avoid all the line in the same side?

Best regards,
Luis

???

Just reel it in a little faster than you swim... and tilt it slightly left and right as you do this...

Re: the best primary reel...

I bought a Manta reel and thought it was a pile of crap. Threw it away.

Simple is best. I like the pathfinder style reel, my wallet likes the Salvo version :-)

Only time I dont want pathfinder style reel is in cold water where I find the knob and screw are just too small to use with thick gloves and frozen hands
