How do various stands cover these issues? They seem to be longer so that you can fit an argon bottle in the bottom, do they also have attachment points for the tanks armadillo style??

Teoman
The Kent Tooling frame has 2 points were you can attach clips ,I am diving with the bottom cylinder clip attached to these & a similar idea to Lances for the top clip .Works well but I have only tried it with Ally 7l cylinders

Henceforth to be known as "Packer Rings" or Packer Sidemount Rings" or "Packermount Rings."

Re: Armadillo Sidemount Bungees

[quote=Lancer4545;172733]Just back from diving today with the set-up I described last time with the stage strap and the top snap shortened up close to the tank valve and the bottom held in place with a cam band and the bungees shortened up and a Ring on the bungee.

I was diving with 2 x S95 stages, both right hand valves.

After placing the tanks on the bench beside you it was simply a matter of clipping them on to the bottom rail and then I put them on the top bungee ring. It was a piece of cake and so much easier than before!!! I had no trouble walking down the steps and getting in with them in place.

Trim was just great and taking them off when getting back on the boat was just as easy as it is with the traditional D ring mounting.

All up it's a great mod!! If you're considering going to a sidemount system or having trouble with your existing set up, try this it works beautifully.

I dive in the UK and have traditionally used a 45 degree D ring positioned just below my chest and a 90 degree d ring positioned on my waist strap. The advantage of this is that on a rocking boat - before I sit down I clip the stage bottom dog clip to my waist and then get my rig on and then finally with one hand clip the top dog clip to the D ring just below my chest.

The question I have is with the armadillo but plate attachments can you still clip the cylinders in while on the bench prior to getting my rebreather on are you only able to attach the bottom part of the cylinder when standing. (I suffer from sea sickness so a slick kit up is a high priority for me)

I found it real easy to clip onto the buttplate when I am seated and then pull the tank valve up and clip it onto the "Packer Ring".

It's not a lot different to clipping it on the way you are doing it now.....You just have to reach back a little more to clip onto the buttplate and then lift the tank up higher to clip onto the "Packer Ring"

Regards,

Lance
