You might also have to consider changing wings until you find one that will position the valve correctly while providing the proper lift and wrap.

He might also stop using the wings for anything other than drysuit backup emergency bouyancy, and carefully weight and then use the suit for trimming bouyancy.

I'd say that in the last 'x' years of Rebreather diving I've actually put gas in my wings... not even once. Dove rigs for years without wings even attached. Dove twinsets for 20+ years without wings, using the drysuit, and it was never an issue. Just another view.

Sorry Bill, can't help with these ones as I don't know them. If that helps I use an Oxycheq 40, Vertex 42 or DR Trek on my Meg or my CK. That works well with the Armadillo SM kit.

Re: Armadillo Sidemount Bungees

Jill Heinerth has a pretty good how-to video clip about the armadillo sidemount setup for carrying stages. It's on her Rebreather Pro homepage.

I generally jump in the water (when from a boat) with bottles clipped to my harness d-rings 'old-school style', then make the quick switch to the bungee to take advantage of the streamlining. I've found that on the larger bottles where there is a little more swing to them even when affixed to the top clip on the stage hardware, they can stay clipped and swing in close enough to take advantage of the bungee. Generally speaking, being a new england guy with choppy surfaces most of the time, I'm hesitant to jump in unless everyting is clipped in securely with hardware first.

I do this to, I have moved the chest D ring lower down to make it easier kitting up on the bench on a crowded boat. Once in the water just flip the bungee over the valve knob or first stage.

Re: Armadillo Sidemount Bungees

Just back from diving today with the set-up I described last time with the stage strap and the top snap shortened up close to the tank valve and the bottom held in place with a cam band and the bungees shortened up and a Ring on the bungee.

I was diving with 2 x S95 stages, both right hand valves.

After placing the tanks on the bench beside you it was simply a matter of clipping them on to the bottom rail and then I put them on the top bungee ring. It was a piece of cake and so much easier than before!!! I had no trouble walking down the steps and getting in with them in place.

Trim was just great and taking them off when getting back on the boat was just as easy as it is with the traditional D ring mounting.

All up it's a great mod!! If you're considering going to a sidemount system or having trouble with your existing set up, try this it works beautifully.

I hope to get some pics of todays dive and will pop them up later if anyone would like.

Regards,

Lance

Re: Armadillo Sidemount Bungees

How do various stands cover these issues? They seem to be longer so that you can fit an argon bottle in the bottom, do they also have attachment points for the tanks armadillo style??
