![]() ![]() | Re: Neoprene or Membrane I started diving in an Typhoon 3mm crushed neoprene suit, efter 200 dives it I recently switched to a Ursuit red Cordura and I am more happy with my new suit than my older one. As for the matter of under suits, I dive all the year around and I am very prone to freeze, right now when the water is about 6 degrees celcious here I have a Weezel extrem+ and 5-6 layer of micro fleece and basic underwears under it and with that I'm... ok. Did'nt really notice much when I switched to the cordura suit. But what I did'nt like about the neoprene suit is that at deapth it doesnt insulate as much, I had to put alot of extra gas in the wing and suit to stay neutral. But what made me change it was that it have leaked every****ing dive I have done since spring last year and now it got about a cm of glue in the croth and it still leaks. Pretty iritating when you dive for fun but even more when you do 2-3 dives a day for a living. |

I read about boyancy issues and depth issues with neo suits and I conclude 03 must be truley amazing suits because I dive a 5mm semi compressed lycra and i used to dive an O3 5mm MSF 500 and I used exactly the same amount of lead as I did with my Otter Skin Membrain and I didnt notice any issues with the suit on dives down to my personal max so far of 105m. Maybe past 105 the crush issues on the Neo realy start to show up ![]() I have only ever dived 03 Neo suits and these isues are non existant so my 2p is get and O3 coz I dont suffer from the above probelems and i definitly benifit from the thermal gain of neopreen. ![]() | Re: Neoprene or Membrane I went from Membrane to O three Don't regret it A bit pithed about having to put on another 4 Kilo though That for me was the only drawback Don't think I am any warmer, I used to wear thinsulate and long johns under the membrane Now I wear zerotherm artics under the O three If I was colder in either suit I just put more on underneath |

| DE/MD/NJ Wreck Diver ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Neoprene or Membrane I dive primarily in cold water here in the US (6c and up). I've used a few DUI Crushed Neoprene suits over the years and found them to be very comfortable. A few years ago when it became time to replace the most recent suit I found that, as a previous poster had mentioned, that the prices were altogether out of line. They have gone crazy with their pricing.... even more so lately. I switched over to a Bare (made in Canada) Crushed Neoprene suit. It's less than half the price of the DUI and is a very well made suit. It's not quite as good as the DUI, but the differences don't come close to justifying the price spread. Richie |

I've got an O3 RI and an otter (in their stretchy skin material). Both are good suits, the downside of neo is its weight/drying time. On the upside, its warmer/harder wearing.
