![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: DSS CCR-40 Wing Interesting........ that wing looks identical to the Rebreather-40 from DSS that I have been diving for the last couple of months There is a certain similarity ![]() ![]() This new wing is the result of a collaboration (arm twisting? ) with Ted Green. Ted provided me with his requirements in a Rebreather wing, and I've tried to translate into a wing. Ted has been most helpful in keeping me pointed in the right direction. Tobin

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: DSS CCR-40 Wing Nice wing, Tobin! That was my editing...since we were reviewing DSS I decided to sanitize all other logos for the pic's...BTW, I like the blacked-out label of the "Halycon" DSMB pouch picture... Glad you guys liked the review and the pic's. Thank you Tobin for allowing us to test dive and review it. Scott liked it so much better than what he was previously diving with the meg that he's keeping it, ego emissions and all!! Dive safe, Celia

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: DSS CCR-40 Wing Tobin had also sent me a wing to test dive and evaluate. Those who have seen my gear purchase and re-sale habits here and on TDS know that I've tried just about every wing out there. The CCR-40 wing compares favorably with all of them. Celia's post outlines my "criticisms" of the wing - the corrugated hose was too short for my meg set up and the ego emissions (nice term) are in stark contrast to my otherwise debadged gear. In the water, the CCR-40 performs very well. It trims out nicely, the rear dump is quite easy to find and use and it provides a nice slim profile. I'd given Tobin a more pedantic detailing of my thoughts, Celia and Scott have captured nearly all of them. The one response item that Tobin mentions in this thread is the reasoning behind the horseshoe design. I'd been using a donut-style wing for the last year or so with no issues, although I have modified my meg to make it taller. Tobin's reasoning behind a shorter profile and horseshoe design is well considered. In short, this is an excellent wing. Tim |

I'll get you some numbers and a couple pics later today. From memory (not always a good bet these days ) The wing is roughly square, 24 inches tall and 24 inches wide at the base, a bit more narrow at the top. Center panel is 6 inches wide. Our single tank wings have a very narrow center, about 3 inches, and of course our double wings have a center panel the width of a set of manifolded doubles, or about 9 inches. I would expect our CCR wing would work well on a SK as the added width in the center panel compared to our singles wing will allow for less constriction. The wing is still narrow enough to allow for tank valve access. I have not tried it on a SK however. Tobin
