As a result of the lowered temperature the chemical reaction comes to near stop. (which is the sole reason why sticks are conserved)And I don't get the soap remark either. If it's about irrelevancy then Yes we're saving cents here not euros so in our sport its almost irrelevant. But let's look at it from a logistical point of view. You are running low on sticks and you need them????

(which is the sole reason why sticks are conserved) They work on the Wed eve night dives in Stoney in the middle of winter, that's good enough for me!You are running low on sticks and you need them???? In the UK lightsticks go for between £1-50 and £2-50 in a lot of dive shops, £1-25 in outdoor shops. A handfull of sticks saves enough for a scrubber fill, even if you have to fight the kiddies off to get them.I keep light sticks on both my motorbikes and in the car. If I manage to drop my torch while trying to change a wheel in the dark they are a good back up.
