Neckstrap. Do you use one? Show us yours

Attached is a photo of a neckstrap that I use to hold the mouthpeice in place should my jaw relax too much for whatever reason(s). It's a wide elastic very easy to don on/off, and very comfortable. Combined with the Seacure mouthpeice, stays securely where its supposed to. I no longer use hose covers due to the tendency of these to push the mouthpeice away.

nice one Gilles,

am thinking now, what if you use a helmet. dont know if you do, but if you have one, wouldn't that be difficult to remove it?

Just a thought.

ADM issue 24 / '06 had an article about some cave explorers...good stuff...but there are a few pictures of a guy in a helmet with a neckstrap looking rig.

Sorry for the the bad picture, maybe you will recognize the cover and can sort through your pile of ADMs and find it

Hello,

I use it if a helmet and there are no problem with this.

If I would have to bailout, I can place the draeger ray mouthpiece under my mouth. Plus the bailout regulator is hanging under the helmet.

Gilles,

I use thin neoprene sleeve on my Meg breathing hoses and my BOV is neutral buoyant. No jaw fatigue.

I was alluding to unconciousness induced jaw relaxation. Not jaw fatigue.

A would be rescuer has a few more options if your unconcious but airway remains clear. Not a FFM, but Christmas is coming .

Hi, someone called??

I'm afraid there is no mouthpiece strap in that picture.. The helmet is a standard canoeing unit with a white / buckle chin strap. see an old picture...

Cheers, JDZ

Re: Neckstrap. Do you use one? Show us yours

Post #18 in this mantabite thread shows the two I have. I've come to the conclusion that if not using elastic, you must have pinch-clips at the front to get the thing off quick. The one you see with the buckle at the back has been removed as it made life tricky for the GF when she was using it and I found it tricky to get off too.

Mine fastens over the helmet strap - getting the helmet off is lower priority to me than getting the loop away in a hurry.
