Surface Marker Buoy - Closed with Inflation Cylinder

Who can tell me where I can buy a DSMB with inflation cylinder. Minimum lift approximately 25 kg and minimum length approximately 2m. (2m= for good visibility on the North Sea)

Have you tried direct from ApValves?

They may not meet you minimum sizing though!

Re: Surface Marker Buoy - Closed with Inflation Cylinder

I have one of the Buddy bags and below 30 meters it's pretty much worthless.

It came with the smaller cylinder. I tried to find the larger one here in the States and was told by many sources that the larger one is no longer available here.

It's a great idea and I would like to use it with the larger bottle, but as it is it's only good on shallow dives.

Never had a problem with mine the 0.1l cylinder is enough to completly fill the SMB on the surface (0.1 * 200bar= 20litres) I guess at a point this volume becomes too small for it to lift its bottle but I would guess that would be quite deep. Once its got going it's going to carry on all the way to the surfaceas the gas expands and provides more lift.

I'm sure I've set mine off deeper than 30 and I'm sure others have to without issues.

I've certainly bagged off in the mid-40s and not felt that it was short of puff.

Cheers,

I've bagged off from 70m without any issue using a 0.1L bottle, feel the bag accelerate as it goes up.... I do have a 0.2L bottle i keep for deeper dives.

Re: Surface Marker Buoy - Closed with Inflation Cylinder

Bagged the stock AP DSMBi with little bottle from 75mtrs easily... just need a tiny squirt to start it moving, after it goes 15-20mtrs its flying up.

DSMB's with crack bottles are bl**dy brilliant, superb item for any diver- faster, less chance of getting entangled in it and easy to bag off mid-water, best of all for us CCR divers, no need to waste gas filling your bag!
