DC,
Looks cool, maybe we could just put a couple of short water ski ropes on the back and take turns driving.

Got my Optima cert last week. When are you going to be ready to get wet again.

Nemo

Actually the thing will probably tow 2-3 divers without slowing down. We'll have to try it up in the lake.
Congrats on the Optima.....who did you wind up doing the course with?
While I'm doing great, I shouldn't abuse the leg yet, have to let the joint capsule reform so it doesn't dislocate, that will be the end of October.
Now Greg has to cross over to the darkside

Nemo1957 is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Russian Uber DPV: Protei-5 for sale

Did my course with Jeff Johnson in a pretty boring quarry in PA. When you are ready let me know and we can get some hours in the lake, even if its shore diving at Rodgers.

I almost had Greg doing it with me on a rental unit but he canceled out in the end.

Do you have the scooter yet or is it still in transit?

I'd really like to know what the thing will do.

Wonder if Sutton ever got his running? And how it ran?

I beleive that he did. Sold it to IMAX to mount their camera on I heard. Not really sure tho. I was going to contact him if I ran into any problems in the set up. Sutton sure is a wealth of knowledge (thank God).

Re: Russian Uber DPV: Protei-5 for sale

This one is a little different. Looks more streamlined with a larger prop.

Полет на "Протоне"

Can't read or speak Russian though...

I believe that is a smaller and newer version called "Proton". My Russian divebuddy has run away to Thailand for a few months but he is scouting russian-forums for someone selling that version, could be a nice toy.

If you have a manual and need some translation I'm sure he can help.

Re: Russian Uber DPV: Protei-5 for sale

Hmmm......

FIRST!

The photo is of MINE and was taken by ME and was taken in MY SHOP so if someone is telling you that this is the one for sale they are LYING.....

With that said,

Titanium: The chassis is super light, but also super-duty.

Motor: Oil filled and good to infinite depth.

Batteries: Silver-Zinc... worth a mint.

Wiring: Suitable for the electric grid of a small town.

Ease of use and comfort.... superb *if* your mission is an open water one (not for caving).

They are neat and unique. My old one is carrying a huge camera now and is running regularly. I loved it, just saw that another user needed it more than me.

Sorry, Dave, the lower photo is linked from your nobubbles website (but not copied and uploaded). The one (still?!) for sale by the Latvian guy with an impeccable Ebay reputation is the exact same model, but not the same unit, as the one described on your site. Sorry, Dave, for omitting the credit to you where credit was due. You have by far the best English description of this vehicle anywhere on the net.

I was hoping someone would buy it and dive it, and scream how they liked it (or not). I am thinking for very deep open water dives this would be the sh^t.
