Dave is right. I was involved in trying to track a scam artist "selling" an Inspiration. Even though I made contact and identified myself as a law enforcement officer, the E-bay folks were deliberately obtuse and un-helpful, I am sorry to say. The claims that they are concerned for the safety and security of buyers on E-bay are, simply put, PURE HOGWASH!

If you can trust what's on ebay, to be legit even when people are reporting the dodgy items.

ebay really should have the same options as paypal to verify your account so at least people have to have addresses and phone numbers bank accounts credit cards that can be verified.

i can't beleive you can just sign up with a random email address and sell anything, then disapear without trace.

Paypal is Ebay.

They used to be a lot better before Ebay bought them. Ebay had there own service. BidPoint or something. Nobody wanted it. Now Ebay is changing Paypal into Bidpoint.

Same unit for sale again on e-bay #7234169777 Presumably someone from here has started the bidding already. Only a couple hours old and already over $10,000.

I would hope that action could be taken to actually catch this guy rather than just have the listing withdrawn.E-bay dosn't give a damn.

You could try sending an "interested email" to the scammer with HTML links in and wait for the hits on the linked site to give you a chance of getting a real IP address - obviously they could still hide behind a anonymoust proxy server but it would be worth a go for anyone with time on their hands...
