Re: IE 7 Problems?

coming out of lurking again (sorry-sorry! ) and dragging this thread out of the spider's webs as we have been having problems with cetrain parts of the site at home

using both firefox and IE7, on the same computer on both my Rebreather World account and paul's (pchanning) certain pages of the site just hang and don't load, pm's is one of them (so for those that have tried to pm us, we are not ignoring you!) Yes we have mcaffee, recently upgraded version (or should that be downgraded?! ) but have no problems with any other forums.

Mod's can you help?

Re: IE 7 Problems?

Sure, we can suggest you ditch that crappy mcafee <huge grin>

Seriously, does mcafee keep a log that would let you identify why theres a problem?

erm... dunno. not that good on IT matters. where should i look?
I don't want to ditch it as i've paid for it ... so until it expires it's staying. Besides, we only encounter this problem with Rebreather World and none of the other forums... so there's got to be something at this end?

Re: IE 7 Problems?

It is a problem with McAfee - nothing we can do from our end unfortunately.

Maybe raise a support call with them - though no one else had joy with them and everyone ended up dumping it.

same same here...

I uninstalled the "upgrade" and re-installed the previous version... of course now my AV isn't up to date... great!...

the "upgrade" to anyone interested was WAY TOO INVASIVE... toolbars automatically put on outlook, configuration is all or none (the new firewall could either be reset to "default settings" or "locked down" i.e. no traffic in or out...

Gonna get off line now before I catch a cold!

If anyone know how to update the old version of McAfee AV please please please let me know!!!!!

Hoping for health,
hoppyinca

You get what you pay for. My dad had AVG installed on his computer. Every time I went to visit, I had to remove hundreds of spyware markers and last time at least three viruses. And yes, he did keep AVG up to date, they just didn't catch things. I stick with Symantec, and I don't have any of these problems that people are listing. I get it free too, but because I'm a federal contractor I'd say McAfee is better than AVG, but it obviously has issues of it's own.
