Talking Photos with Flickr into your Blogs!

Does everyone here know about flickr - www.flickr.com it is a really really cool photo hosting service provided by yahoo.

There is no limit on the number of photos or the quality of the photos you can host, only how many you can upload each month. Free accounts get 20 meg of bandwidth uploads per month and pro ($30) accounts get 2 gig of uploads per month.

The nice thing about is you have a permenant, super safe archive for you precious digital photos.

Well as usual I ramble on - but the really cool thing about our blogs is that they seemlessly integrate with flickr.

When you have uploaded any photos to your flickr accounts - you can publish them and an article straight into your blog from flickr - with out having to leave or log onto your blog etc!

Cool Stuart - so tell me how to set it up!

OK, it is pretty straight forward really (honest!) go log into your flickr account or create one....

Then when you are in flickr click on the "your account" button - scroll down that page and on the left hand side you will see an entry that says blogging.

Now click on the entry under that which says your blogs.

A new page loads up and new you can click on the big link whish says "Set up a new blog"

Nearly there honest!

OK and this page you need to pick your blog type!

The blog type we have is a "MetaWeblogAPI Enabled Blog" just pick that and click next..

OK here it asks for your API end point - cut asd past thsi --> http://blogs.rebreatherworld.com/xmlrpc.php

Then put in your username and password for your blog and its all set up :-)

OK now when you are browsing photos on flickr you can click a button and publish the photo and an entry straight into your blog - pretty damn cool huh!

You can also edit the template - I like to do this as the default one includes an uploaded by link to flickr and a naff picture title....

Other cool things with Flickr - including being able to email a photo and text to flickr and it popping into your blog and being able to do the same with a photo you have taken on your mobile!!!

Let me know how you get on.

Stuart
