The location would seem unimportant as it will be linked from the main site home page and probably the menu bar as well...

From a technical stance... put it on wiki.rebreatherworld.com this may simplify separating it off later if it gets really huge - is the database(s) going on the same physical machine?

I can't see any valid reason why you can't have it at all three, store it at www.rebreatherworld.com/wiki, and point the domain and subdomain to there anyways...
You've obviously already got the rebreatherwiki domain, so you might as well use it. Also, having the domain there, could well bring you more traffic to the Rebreather World site, through the wiki domain. I've been told (purely 5th hand information, and quite possibly complete BS) that wiki is VERY rapidly moving up the list of search terms on google (still nowhere near p0rn, but I doubt anything will ever overtake that!

), so having the wiki domain available to the search engines can only be a good thing.
The subdomain, I wouldn't be too fussed either way, it costs nothing to have it, (assuming its your server? I wouldn't bother if you have to pay for it...) and its an extra way of getting to the same thing... again, some search engines (they're funny things!) may find that but miss the domain / subdir... the more options for the search engines the better!
But I don't think too many ppl are really gonna bother typing "wiki.Rebreather World.com" as opposed to www .Rebreather World. com and then clicking on the link to the wiki... (or of course, having Rebreather World as their home page!!!)

OK this is my favourite suggestion so far and will give us plenty of options in the future.....

Contributing to a Wiki might make you feel good but it is only as good as the worst item in it which, on the average net wiki, is prety dire. If you can tell the good from the bad you probably knew it already.

Yeah, that's my take on it too. For the most interesting bits of information I'll wager it remains pretty accurate and cutting edge (best, most recent info in the item) but for the things that don't get daily attention from a wide audience, a whole bunch of crap will get in there with no real oversight on its quality.
