![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The canister that you are referencing they call the “Clear Bucket.” All of the material on the unit is not your “average stuff.” This material was properly selected to handle heat, cold, and is virtually indestructible. It was developed for another industry and was applied to diving for its robust nature. I personally stood on a simple (and small) shoulder elbow and it did not bend, flex or budge. If this part was made out of a standard plastic it would have bowed out or shattered. This material when finished out is incredible. To my simple understanding the lugs are for location. Plus, the lugs provide a stress relieve system to direct stress or shock placed on the bucket. The clear bucket also has a Velcro strap that holds the bucket in place. Also, keep in mind that the lugs are replaceable and are there for a bucket alignment. They have a metal core with a coating over them- giving the look of plastic. The duel o-rings are really great and the material is such that it can catch material in the seal itself and still seal properly. The o-rings are custom and have qualities designed into them to work for a specific manner. Duel rings are put in to help align the bucket and support but for some of us cavers/ cavedivers are known to really beat up our stuff. This provides a margin of safety for the diver/end user. All seals and o-rings SHOULD be purchased from Steam Machines because they are not your average o-rings. Different rings have special design features and are specifically made to handle certain tasks. I buy this sort of things for a living (engineering buyer) and I can tell you it’s not something you want to order from McMaster Carr. The actual canister is held in place buy a very inventive suspension system. The bottom has a spring and seating part and the top has a special seal/seat. The result is to provide a extremely inventive seal and to provide a measure of shock relief to the scrubber canister. Awesome design! Andrew |

![]() | Congraculations Chris. I hope you will like your new toy and I look forward to a teardown. Quote: (Originally Posted by Crazyduck) The canister that you are referencing they call the “Clear Bucket.” I guess this is just average polycarbonate, which is fine. Just make sure what you wash it with. I recently washed a piece of polycarbonate with Citra Clean detergent (degreaser for O2 cleaning), and it disolved it pretty damn wellAll of the material on the unit is not your “average stuff.” This material was properly selected to handle heat, cold, and is virtually indestructible. ![]() Quote: (Originally Posted by Crazyduck) The duel o-rings are really great and the material is such that it can catch material in the seal itself and still seal properly. Wouldn't those be your average Viton duro 70 o-rings? Cheers, Pawel |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Pawel, To quickly answer your questions, Quote: I guess this is just average polycarbonate, which is fine. Actually no, it's a proprietary super toughened urethene which we blend in-house.Quote: Wouldn't those be your average Viton duro 70 o-rings? Again no, 70 durometer is too hard, the sealing head rings are also blended and manufactured in-house, they have a softer durometer and are D shaped.Best Wishes, Shas |

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Pawel, Come to SXD next weekend and have a look for yourself. I'll be there with my unit. Email me to confirm times etc. As mentioned above the o rings are very different. I've not seen anything quite like them before in any diving gear or camera/video housing. Cheers Rich |

Hi JDZ,Question: Any comments re how you guys use/don't use the cowlings (apart from the obvious) How scratch resistant are they? etc.. Cheers, JDZ Wait and see what the mail man brings with him. I think you are going to be very impressed. All the guys in Sydney are happy with their units so far. I'm not even sure you'd need a cowling from a protection perspective as they are very tough units including the bucket. Things I like about my unit so far
Shas, How would you recommend attaching a scooter ring to the harness? regards Simon "If it makes bubbles, it probably means it's broken" |

Hi Drew Our wait has been about 12 months from first discussion.Drew With SMI moving in between we expected this kind of lead time for them. I am not sure what the wait is now, I would hope it would be shorter. I believe there are still a good number on backorder. Cheers Chris
