![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Calibration I think Steve is asking about actually calibrating the analog meter, not calibrating the rebreather/sensors. If the sensors are reading correct and they are in 100% and you set the meter to read xxx%, as long as the meter returns to xxx% when the sensors are again in 100% then good. That would be the difference between precision and accuracy. Precision is what we want from the meter/gauge and accuracy is set by us during the rebreather calibration. |

Do you have to send it back to SMI periodicly to verify its accuracy? If you are concerned about the gauge reading correctly you could set the secondary dial to S and set the setpoint to 1 ( or any of the other values ) and see what it reads on the gauge. Since this is part of the setup of the unit we do this as part of every build don't we boys .....Last edited by Rich Sawkins : 30th March 2006 at 22:53. |

All the panel metres I have ever used needed calibration on an annual basis. How often does the PRISM one get done? Process of deduction; You dive with (at least) a couple of guys who dive Prisms. You have obviously never seen them calibrate the secondary. Ergo, they don't need calibration that often... I validate the calibration after I've prepped my unit. I prep my unit on a friday night. After a hard week at work I need a few relaxing beers with my mates, then a Shiraz or two with dinner. By the time I check the calibration, I can neither see the difference between .98 and 1.0, nor care very much. Ergo, I actually change the calibration every month or so. Mike

Steve’s special PRISM Calibration technique is a bit unorthodox to say the least. I don’t think it is really appropriate to be posting photos of how he accomplishes it on this mighty fine forum Chriso sent me a picture of how you did it on his unit. Perhaps he could post it here. ![]() Needless to say my DSV has been bathing in a tub of Virkon for the last 24 hours. Cheers Chriso
