![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lithium 9v battery? I bought a box of lithium 9v batteries and replaced all the smoke alarm batteries in the house. I have a couple left over...any reason why I shouldn't use them in the Topaz? I can't think if any but I thought I'd better ask.... ![]() |

Actually, w/ the right connections, the lithium 9 volt battery makes a viable “save a-a-dive” battery for the Meg. I’ve built the appropriate harness and it works. It and a sealed 9 v lithium battery now reside in my save-a-dive kit. Caveat: I’ve got APECS 2.01 electronics.Next thing you know he'll need a Firemegstinguisher. ![]() The numbers: The 5 AA cell battery pack currently being shipped w/ Meg is advertised as a 2800 mah pack that will last 25 to 50 hours. An alkaline 9 volt will have about 400 mah. The product spec sheets I’ve seen on most 9 volt lithiums claim 1200 mah of energy. Do the math and a lithium 9 volt battery gives you a full 3 day weekend of diving. FireMegStinguisher? OK Stefan, ya got me. I test dived (dove?) it this evening. UW pics later. For now: Do I have the only Meg rated to put out Class A, B, and C fires? Ken |

Last night my inspo when turning on didn't fire the solenoid when switching on the slave, but neither did it give me a low battery warning.?? I changed the batteries round and they both fired the solenoid, i changed them back, and they both fired the solenoid. This morning i went to buy new batteries, a local shop advertised panasonic CRP 2 for a reasanable price, so i went to buy a bundle, but when i got there they weren't panasonic but philips, so i bought just five, to give them a try and for a freind of mine. Was wondering if anyone else has the same problem with the batteries, sound like the Volts were ok, but the AMPs weren't.......and the philips batteries, are they any good?? Thanks, Nick.

That'd be about right - I'm using a 5AA NiMH 2800mah pack on my homebuild, get about 20 hours on the bench with "average" solenoid load, and the voltage is lower (so the watt-hours are fewer)

I'm thinking that when taking out the batteries and changing them round i might have 'warmed' them up a bit, because later in the water, i purposefully lowered the O2, the low O2 buzzer sounded, shortley after 'low battery' but no solenoid.. Be carefull, because the battery if it has the volts will pass the test, but may not be able to fire the solenoid.. because of a lack of AMPs.![]()
