![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Prism Adapter Plate I hope I'm posting this in the correct place. These are Prism specific parts so that's why I choose this forum. The following photos are of a 1/4 thick 304 SS plate I make that can be used to mount a conventional BackPlate to the ABS backplane of the Prism. The OEM BC and upper counter lung attachment Yoke are retained. In addition I can provide an alternative upper Counter Lung attachment "Yoke". By using this yoke, and the adapter plate the Prism can be fitted with most commercially available "doubles" wings. The adapter plate weighs 5.5 lbs. Two pair of tapped 5/16 x 18 holes are provided in the plate, each at 11" centers. The two sets are 1" apart. The adapter plate can be reversed on the ABS back plane. This provides a great range of "Trim Adjustments", the adapter plate has multiple tapped holes, it can be reversed, and most BackPlates have multiple sets of holes. The position of the BackPlate relative to the ABS backplane can be adjusted over a ~5 inch range. This can be beneficial if larger onboard tanks are fitted. The Alternative Counter Lung attachment is also adjustable for height. This permits the CL to raised or lowered on the chest. We make SS back plates that can be fitted with additional bolt on weight plates, resulting in a Back Plate that can weigh up to ~14.5 lbs. With the 5.5lb adapter plate these goods add ~20lbs to the unit. Low profile button head allen 5/16 x 1 1/4 fasteners can be fitted thru the back of the tapped holes in the adapter plate, providing fixed studs for securing the wing, CL Yoke and Back Plate. If one is using the OEM BC and CL Yoke shorter fasteners should be fitted. When fitted with the adapter plate, conventional wing, alternative CL Yoke and Back Plate, tear down and service is easier. Removing 2 wing nuts is all that is necessary to shed the weighted BP, the CL's, and the wing. Adapter plate with OEM BC and CL Yoke Adapter Plate directly on ABS backplane, inverted DSS 50 lbs wing, Alternative CL Yoke, DSS Stainless Backplate and Harness DSS 50 lbs wing, Alternative CL Yoke 1/4 thick 5.5 lbs 304 SS adapter plate Alternative CL Yoke Our BackPlates, Harnesses, weight plates etc can be seen at www.deepseasupply.com Your thoughts or comments? Regards, Tobin George

Love it!Simple adapter system and harnesses, choice of factory or aftermarket wing, and plenty of goodies on your website to go with it. Your o-t-s CL D-rings for example. And I get to keep the stock cowling. With the lightweight Kydex plate it should work well for travelling, much easier to disassemble. Might just fit the PRISM in the overhead bin ... ![]() Very well done. ![]()

Stefan,Might just fit the PRISM in the overhead bin I've contemplated making the adapter plate out of Aluminum. Using AL and cutting away the unnecessary bits I'd guess I could reduce the ~5.5 lbs of the SS adapter to about ~ 1 lb. I haven't done it only because the local users prefer the added weight. Would require a little more diligence to avoid corrosion, but with 5052 it should not be a big deal. Regards, Tobin

Using AL and cutting away the unnecessary bits I'd guess I could reduce the ~5.5 lbs of the SS adapter to about ~ 1 lb. Judging by my OC gear there is a fair chance that a bp/w/harness combo comes in a couple of pounds less than BCD factory, or at least not more.I haven't done it only because the local users prefer the added weight. Yet the latter tends to have less bouyancy, and in combination with the adapter plate should work well UW. With regards to travelling, the ss adapter might be okay. Just pack the adapter/stock mounting plate/head/scrubber assembly in a piece of luggage, CL & hoses where the tanks usually are, DSV on one side, displays on the other. Depending on the size of the mounting plate (L x W) and head (depth) it's probably more a matter of size rather than weight. I'm trying to get the measurements. Either way, being able to conviniently remove the BCD should save some weight, and certainly bulk. ![]() By the way, on my OC gear the numbers were: Zeagle Ranger (44 lbs. wing), Scubaro 72 cu.ft. tank, Atomic B1, Octo+ = 52 lbs. DiveRite ss bp, Oxycheq 45 lbs. wing, DIR harness, same tank & regs = 47.4 lbs.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Prism Adapter Plate Tobin, It looks great. I considered making the same thing when I first got my Prism, but because I dive in cold UK waters I decided to get a whole new backplate made to replace the stock ABS one. Of course, that's too heavy to travel with, so I want one of yours as well! I'd agree with Stefan. I think 5.5 lbs is manageable given the overall light weight of the unit, and it avoid the dissimilar metals problem with the SS bolts. My only question is: how much (including the plate, the alternative CL yoke and shipping to the UK)? Andy |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I needed to get a current quote on 1/4" SS. Buying Stainless is like ordering lobster, definitely "price on request" , "this price good for the duration of this phone call" etc. My local metal supplier has Brinks Co. doing deliveries etc. The "Alternative Counter Lung Yoke" is $50. The 1/4 Stainless Adapter Plate with hardware is $160. The hardward I plan to furnish with the plate is: 1 pair of "Low Profile" 5/16 x 18 x 1 1/4" long Button Head SS machine Screws (required when using an none OEM wing and the alternative Yoke) 1 pair of "Low Profile" 5/16 x 18 x 3/4" long Button Head SS machine Screws (required when using the OEM wing and OEM Yoke) 1 pair of DeepSeaSupply Delrin Thumwheels see http://www.deepseasupply.com/page19.html Freight to the UK? rough Estimate UPS ~$100, USPO ~$50, If using the Mail we can't guarrantee delivery, i.e. you assume the risk. If using UPS we can. Both methods can be insured, the difference is UPS actually pays off and the Post Office almost never does on foreign addresses. Regards, Tobin

![]() | Tobin, Nice product!!! I'm currently waiting delivery on a Prism, and was wondering if there is any modifications required to the OEM ABC backplane? Looks like your SS plate bolts right up with no drilling, etc. Will you be making this available on your website? If not should I PM you to place an order? Once my unit arrives I'll be interested. thanks John P. |

It bolts right up and the unit can easily be returned to stock config if desired. Regards, Tobin

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Here a picture of the stock PRISM base plate with and without the DSS adapter. The indentations in the lower half of the plate align the scrubber basket and are important as you you don't want unecessary stress on the head and scrubber from less than perfect alignment. That's another reason I like Tobin's solution of an adapter rather than an entire base plate.
