Re: Who's actually taking delivery of new unit?

Hello Tom,
I have ordered my second Prism in last August.
Last Friday 04-07-2006, had a call from SMI.... my unit is ready for delivery!!
It took little over 8 months, not to bad!
SMI personnel said the current official estimated time of delivery for a new unit is 12 months. But it might be delivered earlier, they keep a 12 months estimate to keep waiting clients happy.. that is my understanding so far!
I am very satisfied from SMI customer service, they kept me well informed through out the transaction.
That is the latest on my case!

Regards

Hello all, what Francois has described as the wait policy is almost exactly what happened in my case. I was told 12 months and got mine in 9. And I needed every minute to save up for the balance... I always got a detailed answer when I asked what was going on and at what stage they were at. If they were having problems with a mold or getting a part, I was informed. My SMI CS experiences, before and especially after the sale, were very good. -Andy

Re: Who's actually taking delivery of new unit?

Francois and Andy,
Thanks for the updates. I ordered mine in November and was told September, 06. I actually went to Tennessee to meet Peter, Sharon and Jan. Got the same comfort level you're talking about.
Two big toys this year. Motorcycle and Rebreather.
Have the money put aside for Motorcycle which I pick up in late May. So the later date for the Prism lets me build up a little cash reserve.

Now.... to figure out an instructor located in the South. Terry Tysall is the only one listed. Problem is how to take a course before I get my gear. Rentals seem to be pretty scarce.

Hello Tom, I think Tim O'leary is a Prism instructor. I did my CCR tmix class with him. He lives in South Padre Island Texas. Try emailing him at: Nauitec@aol.com. Also I thought there was an instructor in South Florida somewhere... -Andy

Re: Who's actually taking delivery of new unit?

There is, Billy Deans, but he doesn't teach a lot, at least not publicly.
He trains divers for research projects and such.

Tom, check with SMI in regards to an instructor as well as a rental.
Most sold before they moved to TN, so they may not have one available.

[quote=jradomski]Leon did some WOB comparitive testing using on of the SMI scrubbers..

Expect to see comparitive testing results in the future as Leon will have a complete PRISM (a diver traded a PRISM plus a sizable sum of money for a Meg)[/quote

It was a old unit so the test data isn't going to mean much?

Re: Who's actually taking delivery of new unit?

So what, maybe it'll prompt people to publicise their own test results

Re: Who's actually taking delivery of new unit?

We can only hope the manufactures will level the playing feild and put test data along side test data. They should all have it? It is just if they are willing to relaease it?

SMI are waiting.
