Just a thought...

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Steel Chassis for PRISM Tough call, Phi. The PRISM's head is designed to bolt to the mounting plate and spacing with the scrubber is critical. You probably want to have a unit (or at least an original backplate) to make sure it fits without undue stress. In addition, you need a bit of space to attach and (especially) detach the scrubber basket. Am not sure how easy that would be to accomplish with bars on the side (where the tanks mount). A design like the D.E.S. box that opens all around the sides may be a better solution. Maybe your black prototype, too. Hard to see from the closed lid back view you posted.

When we take the head off of the original SMI plate we also take the rubber spacer, being that you are now mounting to SS as opposed to a flexible plastic you some times need to shim out the head itself. It may sound difficult, but it really is not.

And after a weekend of playing around in and out of the water, this is how I ended up also.I am using the Stock Counter lung Y connector, I found Tobins held the lungs in too close to my head and I was getting rubbed raw on my neck. What are you guys doing with your SPG's bringing them over your shoulders or under your arms ? JDZ can you show me how you have attached yours ? Cheers Chris Three adapters at the origional bolt points holding wing and Y connector Backplate with no shoulder harness bolted onto adapters 2" counterlung attachment down onto waist band using Tobins attachment 1" counterlung attachment to fastex clip replacing lower end of harness shoulder strap 2" belt as per normal. Nice and simple, comfortable, but still leaves me with no upper mounting points for slings The under counter lung Drings are a good idea in theory, but in practice having both the counterlungs and the harness straps didn't seem to quite work for me. Anyone wants to try for themselves, give me a call. edit: I ordered some 900mm HP hoses to run the spg's over my shoulders and down through the counterlungs - ala Inspo. Seems the simplest way. Mike

Mike Don't get caught up with no "upper mounting points.." If you can run a bungy across your back and clip each side to each of the c/lung large clip, see the orange cord threaded through the clip strap in http://www.rebreatherworld.com/gallery/img1317.html ,then this should support the necks of the stage/sidemounts effectively. Using the full length shoulder strap fed through the c/lung, I can now use the brass ring to attach the bungy clips to... If you are looking at carrying only one sling/cylinder, then yes an alternate needs to be sought!! Cheers, JDZ |
