![]() | Manufacturer Recomended Absorbent I was wondering if anyone knows why Steam Machines recomends Sodasorb over other brands of absorbent? Is there a reason why Sofnolime wouldn't work? |

Ahh now could it be because SMI hold like a worldwide reseller agreement for SodaSorb ![]() Look around have you seen it for sale anywhere else other than SMI? When I had a PRISM I picked up a pail on the cheap and found it dustier than the Australian desert, switched back to Sofnolime after that much nicer than you very much. Cheers Chriso

![]() | Re: Manufacturer Recomended Absorbent Yea, I figured it was something like that. I want to use Sofnolime in it but I wasn't sure if there was something that made it a bad idea. Thanks for the info. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Manufacturer Recomended Absorbent I talked with the folks at SMI a while back about this and what you've said was part of the reason, the other part was (and I quote) "After studing the differance in scrubber duration between Sodasorb and Sofnolime in the Prism Topaz we found only a 3 minute differance and desided to use Sodasorb as it was cheaper then Sofnolime." I've heard that it's dustier then Sofnolime, I'll find out soon enough as I just purchased a pail, but I've also heard that if you fill the canister while standing in front of a small fan it tends to blow the dust away as you fill the scrubber.

Compared to Sodasorb, Sofnolime is dust free. lol. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Manufacturer Recomended Absorbent I'll put up with a little more dust considering that a keg of Sodasorb 6-12 is about $90 vs. $165 for Sofno 8-12 in my area. I think the higher level of dust in Sodasorb might have something to do with the shape of the pellets and how they move against each other during handling. Sofnolime granules seem to have a slightly more rounded shape. After one particularly rough transit to the South Pacific, I used my boat captain's small vacuum to pull out excess dust from my packed scrubber. Still never had any dust issues, even without using a vacuum. All the dust winds up in bottom of the scrubber bucket... |

Cheers Chriso Not sure if thats correct seeing as you can buy sodasorb in singapore no problem and theres also places on the net that sell it. But I agree its crap Really dusty and I find it doesnt last anything like as long as softnolime. But then its cheaper so....

I find that very hard to believe.I have used both many times over and I find a big difference. Max I tested to was 10 hours on one fill of softnolime with no breakthrough, 6 hours on sodasorb with breakthrough. [dont try this at home] Given the much larger size of the grains and lower packing density I wonder what depth they tested the difference. What grain size were they comparing? Sodasorb is soooo dusty. yuck. Here its half the price of softnolime.
