nope, but what did come up was an interesting discussion on the auto pre dive cell calibration. I suggested to him the best pre dive cell test would include a current limitation test over max setpoint. He said unit was capable of holding well over 1.3bar on surface so I hope they will consider implementing that. Adding current limit test to the other auto tests and continuous cell validation could make for one very interesting unit from a safety perspective.
That would be great if they built in a current limiting test, but I wonder if pumping the unit up to 1.6bar on the surface would stress the lungs too much. And I guess it would then be possible to calibrate low O2 with the right amount of over pressure on the surface, but the mnf has stated that they regard the argon concentrations in low purity O2 as a hazard and will likely discourage users from attempting a surface cal with low purity O2.

I was actually quite impressed with the unit and the concept of cont cell validation. It apears well thought out. Yes the hoses look small (but so what? wob passes CE unlike some larger looking hosed units) but its deceptive as they have no corrogation like normal rubber hoses and are smooth bore. It wouldnt surprise me if the inner bore was same as other units inner bore (when you take into account rubber hose corrogation)
Yes, the continuous cell validation is done in a very clever way.

So the hoses aren't as small as they appear. I didn't know they were smooth bore, which would lessen the turbulence in the gas flow and probably help the WOB. And of course you are right that large hoses don't necessarily mean low WOB...

But the marketing and salespeople currently showing the unit are sodding appalling. The unit on show at LIDS and the guys on the stand left me and my friends very unimpressed- they where under the impression 1000's (I quote) of OC Padi divers will buy them and rent them at resorts, I simply don't believe..
LOL! I was chatting to the guy on the stall at ADEX for sometime and he answered all my questions very well. I was actually pleasantly surprised with his knowledge so I asked him how long he had been at Poseidon. He replied "well I just bought the company CS Lunar and then I bought Poseodon" lol!

I also approved of the stand it was displayed on (Feast your eyes on the 3rd Mrs Drmike )

Right up to the moment she dropped it and broke it

Good to see things are still moving along, I’ve ordered one for myself but I may have problems getting it due to a clash with the distributor out here in Oz. The guy won’t let me retail the unit until I retail the full Poseidon range and being a “tec” shop that just isn’t going to happen, specially seeing we specialise in rebreathers and top notch tec gear only. The guy did the same with the Optima, no units until you stock the full Dive Rite range. Not many Optima’s in Oz !
I really do think they need to do some serious work on getting the right people to market the unit. I was told the other day that the Oz price will be around $8.5K which is a lot for the average open water punter.
