![]() ![]() | Re: MK6 now launched.... I think for what it (the Mk6) is aiming at, it probably does the very job well. No doubt it will be a success. However I cant help but think that OTS lungs might put some of the intended customers off. I would like to read the paper describing how it handles two cells safely. If anybody comes across it could they post it please? I heard a while ago that this might be a 'sport' rebreather (though definition of sport and what a sport rebreather can/should handle obviously differs with user groups) and that a Mk5 replacement will be built, but is a couple of years away. Personally its an interesting turn of events. On the one hand I think Sentinal is a much more capable rebreather than I was expecting and the Mk6 much less so. I expected a more middle of the road path by both manufactures, and as a result two competing units. I was pretty wrong! |

![]() ![]() | Re: MK6 now launched.... You could be right but what's about to forget one of the main concern: PO2. Bill Stone will release a White Paper where he outlines the logic behind the choice of two sensors.I don't think a third cell could have raised the price so much. Boh, let's see what the future will show. Nad As I recall from the preview, one sensor was used for PO2 control, and the other was used to check if there was a problem with any of the solenoids used inside the electronic unit (which is non-user-serviceable and completely sealed). I think this is a good start for a completely new kind of market, but the price is too high.

![]() ![]() | Re: MK6 now launched.... Saw it a DEMA today and was very disppointed. Cost 5500 USD, order now ship in February. DSV is very strange no way to sut it off to remove from mouth, just to switch to OC and then remove. Kind of a strange thing for sure. One of the ones on display already had the lever broken off of the DSV. Nice and light. Mike... |

So, according to the brochure, this really is a rebreather any fool can throw on his back and dive - and it does all the rest (incl all predive checks) for you, you dont have to worry about cells or anything.....great! truly great! This is just what we need ....... if they are right......of course it would be deadly truly deadly if they are wrong.....guess we will see... Trouble is if its the latter divers will be paying the price to find out- the ultimate price... Personally, after reading the brochure, I feel more worried than optimistic - I hope to f_ck they are right and my concern unfounded. I predict this will either be the shape of the future or the most deadliest rebeather yet...I hope its the former I really do - but my gut is worried

Maybe I misunderstood but the user has to rely totally on the electronics with one galvanic sensor monitoring another galvanic sensor!!!!! no manual overides!!!! and the only bailout is a 3l dil cylider!!!!!! hooked up to an extreme!!! WOW!! |

| kiss addict Current Rebreather/s: | Re: MK6 now launched.... I think everyone is missing the point here. Fully agree with you. This rig is not intended for most of the people that are on this list. The major problem with the CCR industry is that to this point there are no real rec. rigs. They are all to complex. The human intervention required seems to be reduced to a minimum, making this machine the one more "idiot-proof" produced. The combinantion "price/weight/dimension/easy of use" make it very interesting for recreational diving. If a company want to make money with rebreather, the recreational market is where there are the number of users, the military is where there are big prices (and few machines). I believe other producer will follow with products for the sports divers. But, personally, i would have preferred that a machine called "cis-lunar mark VI" was were something more "sci-fi" with a lot of "whistle and bells" and for the extreme diving market (so they should have sold 10 machine a year, i know) :-) Last edited by gibbogeo : 31st October 2007 at 16:23. |

I'm would really love to read that paper about it.I wonder if they bother with a negative pressure test in the pre dive checks? Have a hard time seeing how the unit could perform that on its own, since they don't mention that the user must perform this. Also wonder it its true that it has an electronically controlled dump valve? Didn't they mention something about that, despite us not finding any external signs of one?
